About Plaza de la Villa
Plaza de la Villa is a square located in central Madrid of Spain. It is surrounded by some of the old buildings including the Calle Mayor. The square is popular before the 15th century when it was called "Plaza de San Salvador" because of its location close to the Church of San Salvador. It was a place for Tuesday's market in the reign of Henry IV of Castile. The plaza is now maintained by Ayuntamiento of Madrid.

- It is one of the oldest squares in Madrid.
- The square also features a statue of Alvaro de Bazan which was made by sculptor Mariano Benlliure in 1888 on the occasion of the 300th death anniversary of the Admiral.
- The oldest building of Madrid named Casa de Los Lujanes also located here. It is believed that the tower was located at the same place where Francis I of France was held captive.
