It is a theatre located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is the oldest entertainment site in Australia. The place is included in the list of the  National Trust of Australia and also marks its presence on the Victorian Heritage Register. It was constructed in 1854 as an Amphitheatre by entrepreneur Tom Moore. It is now owned by Marriner Group and has a capacity of 1452 seats. There is a frequent change of ownership of the theatre from its foundation to the date.

  • The theatre is said to have haunted by the ghost of Frederick Federici who died in March 1888. He died of a heart attack when he came to the basement through the stage and had not returned to take his bows while the other cast claimed that he had been onstage and taken the bows with them. Many people have witnessed a figure in evening dress at the theatre after the incident. The third-row seat in the dress circle was kept vacant for him for many years.
