About Brihadeeswara Temple
Brihadeeswara Temple is an eleventh-century temple situated in Thanjavur city of Tamil Nadu. It is a Dravidian-styled temple designed and made by Kunjara Mallan Raja Raja Perunthachan on the order of Rajaraja Chola. It is spread over an area of around 44.7 acres. The temple is 66 meters tall and gives a glimpse of the richness and culture of the Chola dynasty. The temple opens every day from 6 am up to 12:30 pm and the evening time of visiting is from 4 to 8:30 pm. There are no charges for visiting the temple, however, a nominal amount of 10 INR is charged for rice prasadam and 20 INR for other prasadam. If you want to do a special pooja or Abhishek prices are charged accordingly.


How To Reach Brihadeeswara Temple
You can hire a tour bus or taxi which will take you to the temple and nearby places. However, if you are going directly to the temple you can opt for other transport options available:
Bus
If you prefer a bus journey then you will leave your bus at the nearby bus stand. Some of the bus stands which is close to the location are Thanjavur Tanjore Old Bus stand, Thanjavur bus stop, Sri Srinivasa Bus stand, and Sastra college bus stop. A four-minute drive from the old bus stand or an eleven-minute drive from the new bus stand in a taxi will take you to the desired destination.
Train
If you are going by train then you must know the nearby train station so reach the place comfortably. You can take a train to Thanjavur junction or Alakkudi while Budalur and Titte stations are also close to the location. When your train reaches there, you can take a local transport which will leave you in front of the temple.
Air
If you are going by air then the only nearby airport is Tiruchirappalli International Airport. You can take a taxi available outside the airport and reach the temple conveniently.
