About Chatham Dockyard
Chatham Dockyard is an old Dockyard situated on the River Medway in Kent, England. It was a Royal Navy Dockyard and was used until 1981. The Dockyard was founded in the 16th century. It provided over five hundred ships for the Royal Navy for more than 400 years. Over ten thousand artisans were employed at the dockyard at its peak time. It covered about 400 acres of land at the time. It has now become a museum known by the name Chatham Historic Dockyard.
