About Virunga National Park
Virunga National Park is a reserved area located in the Albertine Rift Valley in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The park was founded in the year 1925. The park is very close to the city of Goma. It is spread in an area of approximately 7,768-kilometer square. It was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and became an endangered site in 1994. It touches the border of Uganda and Rwanda in the east.
