About Simien National Park
Simien National Park as the name suggests is a national park located in the northern part of Ethiopia. It was founded in the year 1969. The area covered by the park is more than 220 kilometers square. The park receives over twenty-five thousand visitors per year. It was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978. It was added to the endangered list in a period from 1996 to 2017 when there was a gradual decrease in the population of native species.
