About Nagarhole National Park
Nagarhole National Park is a protected area in Mysore, Karnataka. It is actually protected in Kodagu district. It was established more than three decades ago in 1988. The park is noted as one of the premier tiger reserves throughout the nation. It is spread up to the area of 642 sq km maintained and governed by forest department of Karnataka state.

- The rich forest cover park with hills and waterfalls is home to several wildlife species such as tigers, leopards, Indian bison, axis deer, sambar, and a number of mammals, birds, insects, and reptiles.
- The park name derived from the word naga which means snake and hole. Before declared as a national park, it was set up as a wildlife sanctuary in 1955.
- There are many threats to the park and its wildlife such as timber smuggling, poaching of birds and animals, forest fire and human habitations are serious issues for the sake of the park.
