About Muskau Park

Muskau Park is a park located in the Muskau region of Germany. The site falls under the jurisdiction of both Germany and Poland. It covers an area of 3.5 kilometers square in Poland while 2.1 kilometers square in Germany. The construction of the park started in 1815 on the order of Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau surrounding his Schloss Muskau residence. It was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2004.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Muskau Park

The Neisse River flows in between the park which creates a border between the two countries. You can cross the river with a pedestrian bridge and can have access to both parts. The bridge was destroyed several times and was reconstructed recently in 2011.
The Castle is located on the west side of the river.
Both castles were leveled and all four bridges across the river were destroyed in the Battle of Berlin.
The park is the largest and one of the most famous English gardens throughout Central Europe.

The other tourist attractions around the place includes a tropical glasshouse, the Old Castle, the spa park, the English Park and the Orangery.
The German and Polish Governments joined hands for the redevelopment of the park following the Revolution of 1989.
