In the late 13th century ossuary becomes the most desired place to get buried because of one-act performed by the local abbot who visited Jerusalem and bought some collected soil from the land and expanded on the cemetery and made Sedlec ossuary to be the world largest place to get buried.
The bones stored in the ossuary have given a new looked out when a woodcarver was hired by a noble family to rearrange the bones and creatively designs something beautiful out of the bones and the artist actually worked made ossuary a beautiful place to visit and was added among the top list of tourist attraction of the country.
It is said that one of the half-blinded monks was appointed to dig out bones from cemetery to ossuary and he accepted the orders and did the same and he assembles bones of people in the form of pyramids. Earlier there were 6 pyramids at present left with the number 2.
The most attractive and fascinated feature in the ossuary is the eye-catching Chandelier which is 8 foot long and has been made with the use of every bone present in a human body. This beautiful chandelier is the most attracted part of the visitors.
The human bones were bleached before decorating and craving as to give them a shiny and uniform appearance.
