Zhejiang Museum is a regional museum located in Zhejiang province of China. It was founded in the year 1929. It covers an area of about 7600 square meters. It has more than 100k items for display. The museum could be visited from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It remains closed on Monday.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Zhejiang Museum
- Earlier it was known as West Lake Museum which was founded in Gushan Island. It was shifted to a new building in December 2009 which was double the area of the building on Gushan Island.
- It is one of the oldest museums in China.
- The museum is managed by both central and local governments.
- It has a beautiful garden outside the building. While the west side of the complex is the historic architectural complex of Wenlan Tower. It was an imperial library of the Qing dynasty which is now a historic site.
