About Yorkshire Air Museum
Also known by the name, Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial, the museum lies in Elvington, York. It was the spot of the former RAF Elvington airfield, a Second World War RAF Bomber Command station. In the mid-1980s, it was first opened for the general public as an aviation museum and memorial. Noted to be one of the largest independent air museums in Britain, its construction was initiated in 1983 and 3 years later it was up and ready to be operated as a museum. Currently, in 2021, Barbara George is handling the responsibility of director at the museum.

How To Reach Yorkshire Air Museum
The museum is situated on the edge of the City of York. It can be found towards the southeast and just a few notes from the main A64 dual carriageway. Its postcode for satellite navigation is YO41 4AU.

Personal vehical
If the visitor is taking the road A19 they will need to head towards York. Further as they come near the York Outer Bypass /A64, they will have to trail the Brown information signs for the Air Museum that can be seen around the bypass headed for the route A1079 (Hull). Further, the visitor will need to continue along the route B1228 with the signs to the Museum along Elvington Lane for 2 miles.
Bus Service
Bus services are available from York City Centre and the Railway Station from Monday to Friday. One can catch Direct Bus Service X36 to reach there.
Fly-In
Pilots can also fly to YAM. They'll find the huge runway at Elvington Airfield right next door. In case someone wants to fly in they'll need to contact the authority directly via their website.
