About Volklingen Ironworks
Völklingen Ironworks was an iron factory situated in Völklingen town of Germany. The factory started operation in 1873 under the guidance of Julius Buch. It was shut down in 1986. The site covers an area of 7.46 hectares. The factory is now converted into a museum. The place earned a designation of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1994. It is an important Industrial Heritage in Europe. The plant is situated near the French border and is just ten kilometers away from Saarbrucken.
