About The British Museum

It is museum situated in London which was established in the year 1753 covering an area of 807 thousand square feet.

It is the oldest public museum all over the world. The museum was opened in the year 1759, seventeen years before America got its Independence.
There was also a tube station in the museum which was started in 1900 but was shut down in 1933 after the new Holborn station opened which is less than 100 yards away from the Museum.
The museum is a house to various cats and the most popular of them was Mike. Mike was so famous that when he died the news was published in the Evening Standard and TIME magazine.
If the museum was not in place it was definitely in place of Buckingham Palace as the place was also considered for the museum but later on it was decided to move the museum into Montague House.
It is also one of the first building that used electric lighting.
The Museum proudly served as the set for various films including Day of the Jackel, Blackmail, and The Wakefield Case among others.
The museum also displays some Obscene objects but only person with mature years and sound morals are allowed to enter.
It takes a huge effort to clean the windows as there are 3,312 panes of glass.
The museum has various stolen things from other countries like Egyption mummies, human figures from Indian temple and more.
