About National Museum Indonesia
National Museum Indonesia is a popular museum located in Central Jakarta of Indonesia. The museum was founded in the year 1778 by Jacob Cornelis Matthieu Radermacher. It is owned and managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. It displays artifacts relating to prehistoric times, archeology, ceramics, history, and geography collections. It is open to the public between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It remains closed on Monday.

You can easily reach the museum using TransJakarta bus of route number 1, 2, 2A, 2D, 6A, 6B, 9B and to get off at Monas bus station from where the museum is situated at a walking distance. Gambir bus stand is also close to the museum.

- The museum has a collection of about 141 thousand objects in its display with which we can estimate history, culture, and other things relating to the country.

- You can also see numerous stone statues belonging to the Hindu-Buddhist period of ancient and Java in the museum. It also displays Asian ceramics.

- The museum also displays pre-historic collections including skulls and skeletons of Homo floresiensis, Homo erectus, stone tools, Homo sapiens, menhir, beads, bronze ceremonial axe, and remains of Homo sapiens.

- Colonial Era relics are also kept in the museum.
- The museum also holds temporary exhibitions like Majapahit Exhibition which was held in 2007 and Srivijaya Exhibition after a decade. These exhibitions are organized in two temporary exhibition halls of the museum.
