About National Air and Space Museum

The National Air and Space Museum as the name suggests is a museum located in Washington DC, United States. It was founded in the year 1946. It was located in the National Mall close to L?Enfant Plaza. There is no entry ticket to enter the museum. The building of the museum was designed by Gyo Obata. You can easily reach the museum using the blue, yellow, green, orange and silver of Washington Metro for L'Enfant Plaza.

Some Lesser Known Facts About National Air and Space Museum

The most interesting object placed in the museum was the S.S. Pussiewillow II. It was an electric-moving sculpture made by British artist Rowland Emett. It was removed from display due to a power problem and a minor fire. Though it has been removed from the exhibit for over two decades people still ask for it.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the museum was also fantastic. You will not believe that how awesome the plan was made by the authorities. There was a signal sent by Viking 1 spacecraft to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory which in turn gave the signal to the mechanical arm to cut the ribbon.
In addition to displaying collections and artifacts in the museum, the scientists of the museum also do research and explore Earth and the solar system.
