- The museum was inaugurated in the year 1985 with a total of 228 paintings, 149 sculptures, and nearly 3,100 drawings and engravings. A majority of these were donated by the artist's family after his demise as per his wishes.

- The establishment that houses these collections, the hotel Particulier was built between 1656 and 1659. It was built by the architect Jean de Bouiller and is deemed to be one of the prime historic houses in the Marais.

- Many people aren't aware of the fact that although he is prominently known as Picasso, his full name is 25 words long.

- The hotel has gone through major restoration processes. It underwent 10 years of restoration from 1975 to 1985. There was a second museum restoration between 2009 and 2014.
