About Marble Palace
The Marble Place is a renowned museum located in the Indian state of Kolkata. The foremost place is known to maintain the marble walls, sculptures, and floors in a large mansion in the city. The museum counted among the most visited places in Calcutta.
HISTORY
The mansion was set up in the year 1835 by the popular Raja Rajendra Mullic son of Nilmoni Mullic who constructed the famous Jagannath Temple a very fine example of one other Marble Place. The family members of the Mullic still live in the mansion.
The museum is operational to the public for six days of the week and remains shuts its door every Thursday and the timings to visit are 10:00 AM - 04:00 PM. The entry ticket to the museum is absolutely free of cost.
How To Reach Marble Palace
The museum is based on Raja Katra road in Machuabazar of Kolkata which is an easily accessible location for travelers to tour around with any type of transportation.
By Bus
The bus stands/stops near the museum are E1&AC1 stand, S12 stand and Howrah stand which are distant at 2.5 - 3 km away from and can be covered within 8-9 minutes by grabbing any public transport vehicle or either by walking.
By Train
If one is arriving via train then he\she must drop off at the closest rail stations which are Mathua and Chitpur stations situated at 900 m - 1.2 km away. It can be reached in 4-5 minutes by renting any public transport vehicle or either by taking a short walk.
By Air
The only airport closest to the museum is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport which is situated at an interval of 14km away from and can be routed in 28-30 minutes via cab/taxi or any other public transport vehicle.
