The museum is among one of the renowned structures of North India. It is dedicated to the collection of various paintings and sculptures like Pahari, Gandharan, and Rajasthani little portraits to display. The museum is often seen curbed with travelers and the place is noted in the list of top visited museums of North India.
A nominal fee of INR 10 per person is charged to access the museum. The museum opens at 10:00 am and closes at 4:30 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It remains closed on Monday.

History
The museum was established in the year 1968 by a French designer named Le Corbusier. The museum was built before the partition of India. The museum collection was later divided between India & Pakistan in the year 1948.

The museum is situated in the center of the city. The museum can be reached easily without facing many issues of transportation.

By Train
The rail stations located near the museum are Chandigarh Junction Railways Station and Chandi Mandir Train Station and also the Sahibzada Ajit Nagar station which is distant at 7-15 km away and can cover the distance in 20-30 minutes with the help of a cab/taxi or any public transport service.

If one is traveling by bus then he/she must drop off at the nearest bus stand/ stops which are Punjab Stat Bus stand, Sector 15 Market Bus Stop, and C.T.U. Bus Stop and also MHC Gate Bus Station and ISBT Bus Stand sector 43 all these are the closest bus stands which are located at a distance of 2-6 km away from the place and can be easily accessible through any cab/taxi or nay public transport in 10-15 minutes.
By Air
The only airport near the museum is the Zirakpur Airport which is located at a distance of 5km away which can be routed in 10 minutes by hiring a cab/taxi or any public transport service to reach the museum.
