Chennai Government Museum is one of the oldest historic monuments in India. The museum is dedicated to the numismatic and archeological collection of Romans. It was established in the year 1851. The museum is always seen welcoming the tourist from around the world. The noted museum tops the list of most visited places in Chennai.
History
Its former building was Cutcherrry collector ground and later turned into a central museum. As time passed it became a significant tourist place and got its current name.
The museum is operational for all six days of the week and remains closed every Friday. The opening timings are 09:30 AM - 05:00 pm. The entry fee for the museum is Rs 15 for an Indian citizen and Rs 10 for Indian Children while Rs 250 for a Foreigner.
