About Maulbronn Monastery
Maulbronn Monastery is a former abbey located in the Maulbronn city of the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It was a Cistercian abbey and ecclesiastical state of the Holy Roman Empire. It was constructed in 1147. It was dissolved in the sixteenth century after Duke adopted the Lutheran faith. The site is bordered by turreted walls and a tower gate. Today the site is occupied by the Maulbronn town hall, a police station, and other administrative offices. Access to the public part of the church is free while Euro 7 for an adult and Euro 3.5 for a concessional ticket is charged for an inside visit of the monastery.

  • After the monastery was seized, the place was used for different purposes like it served as a hunting lodge and stable for the Duke of Wurttemberg. It was occupied by participating peasants in the German Peasant War in the year 1525.
