About The Book of Kells
In the grand library of Trinity College, Dublin, lies the Book of Kells on display for the public since 1953. The Latin book consists of the four Gospels of the Christian scriptures along with numerous prefaces, summaries, and canon tables. Two volumes of the book are available for the people to admire. One shows a key illustration and the other shows some characteristic text pages. The generous use of colors, geometric designs, and patterns suggest that the book was written in the 17th Century Hiberno-Saxon style of writing. The fact that the book is loaded with intricate images and redundant text, makes it a display-only book, not meant to be read out loud.
