About Asan Barrage
Asan Barrage, also known as Dhaulipur Lake, is a beautiful reservoir formed by the confluence of the Asan and Yamuna Rivers. The scenic beauty of this place attracts numerous bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Bird lovers can spot rare and migratory birds from all over the world. The serene environment and lush green surroundings make Asan Barrage a perfect spot for a peaceful getaway. It was founded in 1967 close to Khara Power Station. It remains open all the seven days of the week between 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. There is no fee to enter the area, however, you have to pay for boating and other activities.

Asan Barage is located at the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh at an accessible location. You can reach the location using any of the available means of transport.

As the barage is located close to Pointa Sahib and Dehradun, a small drive from these cities will take you to the spot. It is just 28 kilometers from Dehradun while 11 kilometers from Dakpathar.

- Though the spot remains open throughout the year, the best time to visit her is between October and December as well as between mid- March to the end of April. At this time, area welcomes a large number of migratory birds including Mallard or Red-crested Pochard in addition to the 53 species of resident birds. So the area is perfect for the bird watchers.
- The place also provides an opportunity to enjoy boating at the lake in addition to enjoy the beauty of the location.
