About Fanshawe College Arboretum

Fanshawe College Arboretum is a garden located in the city of London in Ontario, Canada. It belongs to Fanshawe College. It was founded in the year 1995. It covers a large area of 100 acres. It is located at a place just forty minutes drive from London and is north of Strathroy town. It is controlled by using BG Base software. The A. M. Mac Cuddy Gardens is also a part of this garden.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Fanshawe College Arboretum

Very few of us know that the garden was a property of St. Pauls Cathedral and was used to plant trees in the memory of the deceased Londoners. Later on, it was transferred to the college for upkeep and to protect it from vandalism.
It is a part of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International and other major groups like the American Public Gardens Association and The Royal Horticultural Society.
The garden owns a collection of more than 4000 types of plants at its two locations.
It is a live classroom for the students where they can study natural sciences and know much more things which could not be learned only from books. The students and the staff are also credited with maintaining this garden.
The seasonal flowers are also grown and studied in this garden.
