Ruthin Castle is a medieval castle fortification in Wales, Ruthin that dates back to the days of Edward I. It has had many Royal guests over the years. It is set in an environment with acres of woodland around it.

- This castle lies next to the Clwydian Range in North Wales. It was built during the 13th century by Dafydd ap Gruffydd. A part of the ancient walls still exists and is now a part of the Ruthin Castle hotel.
- The Hotel has a list of notable guests to its name. The history of the building goes back to the legend of King Arthur and its former tenants have been Elizabeth I, King Edward I and Henry VIII. It was also owned briefly by the "nine day's queen", that is, Henry VII's great granddaughter Lady Jane Grey.
- Just about 38 miles from Liverpool,the hotel today has 59 luxury rooms in the medieval style, acres and acres of woodlands to explore and many local attractions. It has facilities of a gym, a Bazaar Spa, The Library Bar, etc.
- The hotel is also fabled for being haunted. The story goes that after Lady Jane Grey was executed for high treason in the year 1554, her spirit lingered and found its way back to the site.
- The castle still contains the ancient dungeons, a whipping pit and drowning pool/pit. These were used for punishing prisoners or specifically for female prisoners under the Scottish federal laws in the age of old. These dungeons are not open to the public but the knowledge of its existence and the history associated with it is what gives it a creditable repute of being haunted.

- Another ghost that haunts the Castle is described as a medieval knight wearing only one gauntlet. He is seen wearing his armour. Peopple have reported seeing a mist like figure or feeling an "icy" chill randomly when passing by the hallways or waking up in the dead of the night to feeling a heavy weight on their chest. Numerous incidents like these have been experienced by guests.
- The name Ruthin is derived from the Welsh word "rhudd" meaning red and "din" which means fort. The "Red Fort" stood on the red sandstone ridge where the present day hotel rests.
