Built-in the 15th century, chateau de Marcay is situated in the Loire valley, France. It was constructed on the ruins of an 11th-century fortress. The building today is a scenic spot for vacationers to spend the weekend and soak in the beauty of the valley. It lies approx. 8 km from Chinon's ancient fort on the river Vienne. All in all, a luxury hotel with an abundance of scenic beauty and a reputation for being haunted; doesn't sound too bad for a weekend getaway!

- The chateau is built of white-blond stone, with 40 rooms offering accommodation in a charming location, and extensive lawns and gardens with an outdoor pool.

- The guests may tour the Chateau's 12 000 bottle cellar and sample the fine wines. Loire Valley has a fine variety of wines and an abundance of fruit orchards and vineyards along the banks. The valley is also known as the "cradle of French".

- Before it was turned into a hotel in the year 1973, the chateau was used as a secure fortress, where peasants found refuge from soldiers who wiped the area. There were numerous farms that reared livestock and produced wine.

- The Chateau is spread over an area of 37 acres of parkland whereas the Loire valley covers about 800 sq. m. Nearby sports that one can enjoy include Golf, Riding, Ballooning, Fishing, and Canoeing.

- The hotel is suspected to be haunted considering the reports by guests. Legend says that a woman dressed in white is often seen sitting at the edge of the guest's beds. Sometimes she walks the halls. The legend goes that the lady, still lingering, was a werewolf who was shot dead by a farmer as he saw her after she transformed. Hard to believe that one but not if you're willing to witness the lady herself.
