About Lier Sykehus
Lier Sykehus is a psychiatric hospital located in lier municipality of Buskerud, Norway. Originally, it was named as Lier Asylum and Lier Psychiatric Hospital. The hospital started operation in 1926 with twelve buildings. Four of the buildings were closed in 1985 and as of now only building number H, C, and G are in operation. The building was designed by Victor Nordan.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Lier Sykehus
- According to some reports, many experiments of lobotomy, LSD, and testing of new drugs were performed in the hospital between1945 to 1974. The death of some patients also occurred during ECT treatment. They also did research with radioactive isotopes on the patients admitted to the hospital.
- A former nurse named Ingvar Ambjørnsen had written a novel named "23-salen" based on the conditions of the inmates.

- Though there are not relevant stories of the existence of ghosts still the conditions in which the patients were kept can terrify any person. The hospital authorities also did illegal experiments on the patients which should be done on the animals before trying it on humans. Poor patients can only cry about their condition and there was no one to listen to them about the pain they are experiencing until their death.
