About Toko Merah
Toko Merah is a historical landmark situated in Old Town Jakarta of Indonesia. It is situated on the west of the Kali Besar which is the main canal of Old Town. The building was made in 1730 as the residence of Gustaaf Willen, Baron van Imhoff who was Governor-General of Dutch East Indies. It covers an area of 2471 square meters. It is open for public visits between 8:00 am to 10:00 pm all of the seven days of the week.
How To Reach Toko Merah
Buses of route numbers 11,13, 1B, and 2Ball follow the route that takes you to the destination. Your bus will leave you at Terminal Condong Catur or at Halte-Term. Condongcatur from there the site is 8 or 9-minute walking distance. Other nearby bus stations are Grand Keisha Hotel and Hartono Mall. These are located at 12 minute and 26-minute walking distance respectively.

- The building was named Toko Merah which means Red Shop in the Indonesian language because of its red color.
- It was a Navy Academy from 1743 to 1755 and is known to be the oldest navy academy throughout Asia. Vice-Admiral William Bligh also spent some time in the building.
- The place is ideal to know about the history of the place and is one of the oldest buildings all over Jakarta.
