About Syahbander Menara
Syahbander Menara is a historical building located in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was built in 1839 as a monitoring tower for in and outgoing ships from Batavia. It worked like the customs office of that time collected taxes on goods imported at the Sunda Kelapa Port. It is a 12 meters high building with an area of 4 by 8 meters. It is a three-floor building, the top floor of course was used for viewing at a long distance while the ground floor was a prison for rules violators.

As the tower is situated at the Sunda Kelapa port, you can visit the tower during your trip to Sunda Kelapa. There are many options to reach there you can take a red line or blue line from Juanda or Yellow from Tanah Abang. Redline or Blue Line from Sudirman which takes you to Jakarta Kota station close to the location is also another option. It is just one kilometer away from Fatahillah square. Buses and other public transports are also available to reach the destination.
