About University of Western Ontario Sherwood Fox Arboretum
Sherwood Fox Arboretum is a biological garden located in London city of Ontario province of Canada. It was founded in the year 1981 with the efforts of Dr. George Connell. It belongs to the University of Western Ontario. The garden is a home to about 3200 trees and 350 species of shrubs. It aims at providing the green area as well as a learning centre of the University.
Some Lesser Known Facts About University of Western Ontario Sherwood Fox Arboretum
- The department has labeled and mapped the trees for easy identification.

- The Arboretum was the home to the second-largest Ginkgo tree of the west which was felled in March 1990 to provide a space for the Laurene O.Patterson Building. However, its trunk has been preserved and hung on the wall of the Biology Building.
- In addition to the native species, non-native trees belonging to Europe and Asia are also planted in the Arboretum.
