About Jardin Du Luxembourg
Located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris are the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens. It is the most centric, popular and beautiful park in Paris and is currently owned by the French government. It is a lovely tourist spot and an ideal place to rest after a long day exploring the city. Some Lesser Known Facts About Jardin Du Luxembourg
- Jardin du Luxembourg was commissioned to be built by the Queen Marie de' Medici. Its construction took place during the years 1612-1617. It was inspired by the palaces built in the Italian style in the city of Florence and the Boboli Gardens, a childhood memory for the Queen.

- The gardens are spread across 25 hectares of land and are divided into French gardens and English gardens. Between the two, is built a geometric forest and a large pond.

- There are about 106 statue figures all across the gardens. There are also the monumental Medici fountain, the Orangerie with its tremendous assortment of plants like palm trees, oleanders, orange and pomegranate, and the Pavillon Davioud.

- Visitors can enjoy a number of activities while their visit including play chess, tennis, remote control boats, and more.

- The estate has been through many renovations. The interiors were once decorated with 24 paintings depicting the life of the queen. These are now showcased at the Lourve. In 1835, a new was added, which included a library. It had a cycle of paintings by Eugene Delacroix. The library contains some 450,000 books!

- The Davioud Pavillon was built and termed in the memory of the architect Gabriel Davioud in the 1860s. At present, it is a school of horticulture, in addition to the premises for the annual honey festival.
