It is one of among older burial grounds across Drew County in Arkansas (USA). It was established in 1843. The cemetery encompasses an area of approximately 1.7 acres. The burial ground is laid on the site of the Rough and Ready village which was the initial settlement across the area (Drew County).

The cemetery situated near the village of Rough and Ready, it is around one mile far in the south of the Monticello Civic Center.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Rough and Ready Cemetery
- There are over 200 burials in the cemetery from which only 100 are marked. Most of the graves are dating from 1860 to 1950; only seven graves are recorded after 1950.
- The place is boarded by a very old chain fence at the front and backside of the cemetery.
- There are several trees in the cemetery including oak, pine, and hickory.

- There is a very large headstone in the cemetery which heights around six feet. It is a marble stone having carving "Butram".
- In November 1999, the cemetery was placed in the national register of historic places.
