Schwerin Castle is a castle situated in the Schwerin city of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state, Germany. The castle is located on an island on the main lake of the city called Lake Schwerin. There is proof of the existence of the castle in this location in AD 973 but a major part of this castle was made between 1845 and 1857. It remained home to the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg for centuries but now some parts of it are used as the residence of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state parliament while other parts can be visited by the public. The castle museum remains open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm in summers while in winters its timings are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. It remains closed on Monday. The tickets to visit the castle including photography is 8.5 Euro for an adult while a guided tour cost 60 Euro per group (not exceeding 25).
