About Sao Jorge Castle
Sao Jorge Castle is a castle located in Santa Maria Maior district of Lisbon in Portugal. According to the estimates, it was a dwelling place since eight century BC. However, first fortification was done in 1st century. It was occupied by various civilizations like Romans, Phoenicians, Moors and Carthaginians. It was also used as a military barracks and now earned the title of a national monument and museum. It is open for public visit between nine in the morning till six in the evening throughout the week in winters while it remains open until 9 pm in summers. The ticket price for an adult is 10 Euro while children below the age of twelve are free to enter. They charge only five euro for students and senior citizens and disabled guest are required to 8.5 euro as the ticket to enter the castle.
