About Ross Castle
Ross Castle is a historical building in Ireland. It was founded in 15th century as the home for the Chiefs of the Clan O'Donoghue. It was made as a tower house and keep. It is situated on the edge of Lough Leane in Killarney National Park of the Kerry County of Ireland. It is now owned by the Office of Public Works who allows seasonal guided tours in the castle. The castle was made taking in view that safety of the residents and proper lighting inside the castle through larger windows on the top.

- Richard Nugent the Black Baron was a cruel man and ill-tempered according to folklore. His only daughter, Sabina was a young, beautiful woman who often spent her time at the shores of Lough Sheelin. Though she was a daughter of an English Lord but was pleasant and remained in contact with local Irish villagers. One day, she met Orwin who was the son of O'Reilly chieftain. Both fell in love with each other. They knew very well being a daughter of an English Lord and a son of an Irish Chieftain their marriage will not be accepted in their families. So they decided to elope. They boarded a boat and started to row across the lake. But things went wrong when a storm struck the boat and blew them away. Orwin was drowned, but Sabina wakes up after three days. She locked herself in the castle?s tower out of grief. She does not eat or drink and passed away. Till now her restless spirit roams in the castle in search of her lover to reunite with him, According to the local tale, her fate was a result of her father?s cruel deeds.
