About Lichtenegg Castle
Now a day, there are only ruins of the castle remains which were assumed to be in existence in high medieval period. It was assumed to be made after 1188 at the Peak of Honenburg Mountain. Several ownership from Reichsvogtei Nuremberg to others up to 15th century when it was destroyed. There are very less sources for this period, the construction of the castle is not known. It is located about 585 meters above sea level. It is about 6.4 kilometers away from the church of Pommelsbrunn. It is free to access and now belongs to the municipality of Birgland.
