About Heidelberg Castle
Heidelberg Castle is an old castle located in Heidelberg town of Germany. It is situated on the Königstuhl hillside at a height of 80 meters. It was constructed in 1214 for the Bishop of Worms and was partially rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is made with Gothic and Renaissance architecture. It is open for a public visit throughout the week from ten in the morning till five in the evening.

  • It was damaged two times by a lightning bolt. The first time was in 1537 when the upper castle was damaged. The second time, there was a fire due to a lightning bolt in 1764 in which some rebuilt sections were shattered.
