Castles and Town Walls is an old castle located in Gwynedd county of Wales, United Kingdom. The site is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The castle was built in 1282 on the order of Edward I as an attempt to strengthen his authority in the region. The site includes Harlech Castle, Conwy town walls, Caernarfon Castle. Conwy Castle, Caernarfon town walls, and Beaumaris Castle. Architect James of St George had an important role in the construction of the castle.
