About The Central Pier
The Central pier is located in between of the Northern Pier and the Southern Pier. It was designed by John Issac Mawson. The popularity of North Pier led to the construction of the South Pier, the construction company hired Richard Laidlaw who was the contractor for the North Pier. It has a total length of around 371 yards. It started the construction in 1864 and was opened on 30 May 1868.

- The construction and structure of the Central Pier are similar to the North Pier. It has a base made up of cast iron and a decking of woods.
- The Central Pier caught fire in 1964 and 1974. The fairy ground ride was also destroyed by the recent fire in July 2020.
- It has many attractions like Pirate Bay Family Bar, Blackpool Big Wheel, Peter Sedgewicks Funfair, Central Pier Family Entertainment Center, Old Tyme Portrait Studio.
- Initially, the Central Pier had fun events but later on roller skating, fairground rides, and amusement machines were also instituted.
- The dance hall of the Southern Pier was converted into a theater, bars, and amusement arcades in 1970. The theater came into existence as "Peggy Sue's Showboat". Later in 1990, a Ferris Wheel was also introduced.
