The Silver Strand beach features beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. It is one of the area?s finest recreation destinations. It lies in the middle of the mouth of Channel Islands Harbor on the north and the ocean entrance to the Port of Hueneme on the south. Its main commercial district is centered around Roosevelt Boulevard. It offers many interesting activities and sports and all in all is a great location for exploration.

- Some of the popular activities include camping, swimming, surfing, boating, water-skiing, volleyball, and picnicking. Anglers can fish for perch, corbina, grunion, and the yellow-fin croaker.
- The site is often dubbed as the birthplace of the Nardcore style of hardcore punk music. Oxnard was the epicenter of the early 1980s hardcore punk scene in Southern California. Some f the notable bands to have originated here were Dr. Know, Stalag 13, Ill Repute, and Aggression, etc.
- The bayside of the park offers views of San Diego Bay. Three pedestrian tunnels lead from the parking lots under the highway to the bayside of the park. There are no dogs allowed, either on the beach or the tunnels.
- Alcohol is also prohibited though Barbecue and fire pits are available in the area. It also features a wonderful bike path, part of the Bayshore Bikeway, that takes riders past the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge and offers great views of the bay and skyline.
- Some say that the spot is named for the silvery oyster shells that cover the beach. One can also find clams buried in the sand by the water. People also walk the shore combing through the sand, seashell collecting is another pastime that one may indulge in.
- Its neighboring attractions include Crown Cove Beach which lies across the highway on San Diego Bay. It comes with an aquatic center, kayak and boat rentals, and calm waters for safe swimming. Also, the Silver Strand Beach café which is a seasonal café.
