The Del Mar beach offers one of the most beautiful sites. The stunning ocean views from historic coast Highway 101, wildlife reserves, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs, oceanfront parks, and plenty of shopping and dining, proves it to be the most picturesque in all of San Diego County. Their beaches here are particularly suitable for families and even have some dog-friendly beaches.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Del Mar City Beach
- The Del Mar North Beach known to locals as Dog Beach runs from 29th Street north all the way to Solana Beach. Dogs can run freely all along this beach. It is a great spot to spend a fun day at the beach with your furry friend.

- Del Mar is Spanish for "of the sea" or "by the sea," which is appropriate for its location. Horse Races are hosted on the Del Mar racetrack and in the fall at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds also host the satellite wagering facility Surfside Race Place throughout the year when races are not live.

- There are 2 famous parks in the vicinity, namely, Powerhouse Park and Seagrove Park. Seagrove Park is a beautifully landscaped park with benches and unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean, which is perfect for whale watching season from December through April. Both are perfect sites for picnics, weddings, and other social gatherings. Or for just a stroll in the evening when not occupied by these events.

- The fairgrounds and racetrack offer open-air concerts during the summer. Hot air balloon rides along the coast are also an activity to indulge in and see the beautiful shoreline from the sky. Watch for dolphins in the surf, frequently spotted just past the waves in Del Mar.

- The Del Mar area is one of only two locations where the rare Torrey Pine tree grows. The only other population of the endangered ?Pinus torreyana? can be found on Santa Rosa Island.

- Popular activities at the beach include swimming, sunbathing, beach walking, picnicking, and surfing. Jogging, bicycling, and playing volleyball along the coast south of 15th Street are also popular.
