He started working in 1941 and rose to fame with the soap opera “Search for Tomorrow.” He appeared deputy Barney Fife in the television show "The Andy Griffith Show." His first film role was in the film “No Time for Sergeants.” His final role was a voice role in the direct-to-video film "AirBuddies."
